A few years later, after a gun was discovered in the bag of one of her schoolmates, Tracy began home schooling her. ‘People were telling me, “Oh, how are you gonna make friends?” ’ Sarah says. ‘To me, it’s better to just choose your own friends instead of being stuck with 25 kids in a classroom who could be a bad influence or I don’t get along with or whatever.’ Tracy told Sarah that if she maintained good grades, they could keep up their nightly stalking adventures. ‘I know where she is every night,’ Tracy told me. ‘And I know she’s not in trouble.’ |
