It was a lovely day – OK, there was a bit of drizzle, but this was Yorkshire – and seeing the handsome locomotives gliding in was a balm for the soul, jaded as I was by months of commuting on those awful, cramped, stuffy modern trains. The children stood on the railway bridge as it passed underneath, filled with hilarity at being plunged into a cloud of steam. |
