Things that sound easy and reasonable to people aren’t always easy and reasonable for computers. A computer system that wasn’t designed to work with Fedwire only (because nobody thought that would ever be needed) may have all sorts of strange and unexpected glitches if it’s made to work with Fedwire only. Intermittently switching on the rest of the system may help, or may turn the whole thing into the worst nightmare. And the only way of finding out for sure would be to try. I’m hardly surprised that Treasury aren’t keen on trying. |
